Branding
Creepy Colors, To Dye For
Student Project | Spring 2020
This brand guide was my final graphic design project in college. The goal was to create a brand story, product and/or service, and brand guide for a mock company created by students.
I created a subscription box for hair dye enthusiasts. The goal was to appeal to a target audience with an alternative style so I created a brand that leaned towards emo and alternative design aesthetics. The company is called Creepy Colors with the tagline To Dye For.
Brand Story and Target Audience
Creepy Colors is a bi-monthly subscription box that aims to provide hair dye enthusiasts with four to five products in each box. It’s to dye for. This subscription service works similar to IPSY or Birdy in that it will provide products from other brands for subscribers based on a quiz that creates personalized recommendations for each box. Subscribers can decide to receive seasonally recommended hair dye colors (those traditionally associated with winter, spring, summer, and fall) OR receive colors of their preference.
Each box will contain:
Two to three semi-permanent hair dyes (dyes that do not contain ammonias, they are essentially colored hair conditioners and are less damaging to the hair than demi-permanent or permanent hair dyes. Semi-permanent hair dyes will fade from the hair overtime as they deposit color and do not chemically alter the hair in the same way that other types of dye do).
A conditioning treatment or mask for the hair.
A miscellaneous item curated for subscribers based on their quiz results (a hair accessory, dye tools, styling product, etc.)
The target audience of this service are:
People interested and passionate about dyeing their hair, but don’t want excessive damage to their hair’s integrity and strength.
People who enjoy changing their hair color frequently and trying new colors.
Individuals over 18 years of age or those with consent of a parent/guardian.
