Victoria Allen

Hi, I’m Victoria!

I’m a data analyst with a love for logical thinking, statistics, and understanding the “why?” in situations. I’m currently making a career change from animation and design to data analytics.

As a designer with a background in animation and design, I specialize in problem-solving and creative ideation. I’m eager to challenge myself in a role where I can analyze problems and create solutions with data and design.

I earned a B.S. in Visualization from Texas A&M University with a minor in Art and Architectural History and graduated with honors.

I’m also a certified Data Analyst from Career Foundry. I’ve furthered my education to learn industry relevant skills such as data collection, descriptive and statistical analysis, data manipulation, presenting results, and providing data driven answers and recommendations.

I love baseball (too much?), reading, and being outdoors. I am always looking for new projects and hoping to discover new interests.

My Professional Interests

Data Visualization

Given my background in game design and animation, I have a passion for creating visually appealing work! While I love technical, data driven analysis, creating visualizations to show results is one of my favorite aspects of data analytics. As I am a visual learner, I feel that this part of the data analytics pipeline helps answer the “why” of a project in the most impactful way. I have worked with both Tableau and Python to create visualizations. I also enjoy using Adobe Illustrator and InDesign to make clean, aesthetic infographics.

Python

The most invaluable tool for any data analyst! Python for data analytics one of my favorite aspects of the field. While tools like Excel are helpful, Python is definitely my preferred resource. I particularly like creating visualizations using libraries such as matplotlib and seaborn.

Drawing Conclusions

I have a very curious mind and I am ALWAYS asking why and wanting to know more. I have a passion for uncovering cause and effect of scenarios and using evidence to support my decisions. I enjoy creating interactive ways to present findings or research using Tableau or Adobe Illustrator and InDesign.

Branding

From my experience with graphic design, I’ve come to really enjoy creating branding guides to create cohesive themes and attitudes.

My Software Knowledge and Experience

I have experience using the following:

  • Acrobat

    Adobe XD

    After Effects

    Illusrator

    InDesign

    Media Encoder

    Photoshop

    Substance 3D Designer

    Substance 3D Painter

  • Excel

    PowerPoint

    Word

  • Tableau

  • Python

    SQL

    Jupyter

    Pixar’s Renderman

  • Learn to Code with Baseball, written by Nathan Braun. An interesting way to reinforce old and learn new coding techniques. Perfect for me because I love baseball!

  • Expanding on my city logo collection. However this project is being done in Affinity as opposed to Adobe Illustrator.

  • Trying to limit myself to watching only one baseball game a day, and failing.
